The CPC Module 4 test focuses on your practical knowledge and ability in relation to vehicle safety and security.
During the test, you will need to demonstrate your knowledge and ability in areas including:
- Ability to load the vehicle with due regard for safety rules and proper vehicle use
- Security of the vehicle and its contents
- Ability to prevent criminality and trafficking in illegal immigrants
- Ability to assess emergency situations
- Ability to prevent physical risk
The test is designed to assess whether you can apply your knowledge and demonstrate practical safety procedures.
The current GOV.UK guidance confirms that the test is made up of 5 topic areas, with a maximum of 20 points available for each. You need to score at least 15 out of 20 in each topic and achieve an overall score of at least 80 out of 100 to pass.

What Is the CPC Module 4 Pass Mark?

Each of the five topic areas carries a maximum of 20 points. To pass your CPC Module 4 test, you need to:

Who Needs the CPC Initial Qualification?
Start Your Professional LGV or PCV Career
This training is for candidates who need to complete the Driver CPC Initial Qualification in order to drive an applicable Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) or Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) professionally.
The Driver CPC route depends on your individual circumstances and the licence category you are obtaining.

What You Will Gain
Complete Your CPC Initial Qualification
This course includes Driver CPC Initial Qualification Module 4 training and test.
Once you have successfully completed the required Driver CPC Initial Qualification, you can obtain your Driver Qualification Card (DQC), subject to the applicable requirements.
If you are required to maintain your Driver CPC qualification, you will also need to complete the relevant 35 hours of periodic training within the applicable five-year period.
Periodic training can be completed as:
- One-day courses of 7 hours
- A five-day block of 35 hours
- A combination of approved training sessions, depending on the applicable requirements
